It's Hypocrisy 101 at
Your Local University
The academic world prides itself as a bastion of progressive thinking and an ardent defender of
liberal causes. Logic would dictate that the State of Israel would be the darling of these left-leaning institutions. In fact, why isn't the
Israeli National Anthem sung aloud every morning on progressive college campuses throughout America, recognizing the Jewish State as a country
where a woman can become a prime minister, and gays can march freely down the streets of Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Yet, in spite of the stunning fact
that the Middle East can boast no other country where racism is virtually unknown, and a flourishing democracy reigns, the State of Israel is
berated and held in disdain throughout college campuses across America.
Where are the screaming, vegetarian students with torn blue jeans erecting protest-tents to call
attention to a flourishing black slave trade in Islamic states like the Sudan and Libya? You can look hard, but you will never find them. Why are
there no violent student sit-ins in the dean's office to express rage at the unspeakable religious intolerance in the theocratic state of Saudi
Arabia? Where are the screeching, angry student voices condemning the oppression of women in every region of the Arab world? Why isn't the
Palestinian flag banned on university campuses because its image symbolizes ethnic genocide against the children of Israel?
Yet, each and every day, another student organization somewhere in North America is plotting and
collecting signatures to divest their university's investments from the Jewish state. Nothing would make these young, darkened souls happier than
to watch Israel's economy choke to death along with its bewildered citizens.
If visceral self-hatred did not
heat the air that swirls through student union
buildings, and justice filled the minds of our
impressionable youth, the name Israel would mean
only Blessing and Hope in the academic
language
